Website Update August 2024

At the end of July, Shirley and I spent 10 wonderful days in Peru.

I was speaking at an international language conference, and we decided to couple that event with our own adventures, specifically learning about the pre-Incan and Incan civilizations (political, economic, social, and religious systems) in different parts of the country.

We also visited another city named Arequipa where I gave a couple of presentations, one dealing with emotional heartache and resilience as we navigate through difficult times. This was tied to the challenges teachers, parents, and students experienced during and after the pandemic. In more general terms, however, and behind the closed doors of our lives, each one of us struggles and in some ways, hides behind a mask of inauthenticity to shield us from the judgment of others. A number of teachers shared experiences of personal tragedy, and coming together as new friends helped everyone build real relationships.

We also took a fun chocolate-making class to help us discern between the real stuff and all sugar. We had fun making our own.

I also realized that you don’t have to go far to experience the great wonders of the world and connect with wonderful human beings. You can visit comparable iconic beauty only a few minutes away from where we live in Utah.

Cherish each moment of your life.
