Best Web Hosts for Creating Your Own Webpage

More and more students want to create their own Webpages as a means of communicating their ideas with others, but they are not sure which Web host to choose? So, what is a Web host? Basically, it is a company that allows you to put your Webpages on their servers so you don't have to buy and maintain your own. By doing so, others can see your Website.

Now, there are many choices you have to consider:

  • Free Versus Paid Hosting: Some companies like Yahoo! Geocities provide free and paid hosting. Students can sign up for a free Website account that allows you to create your pages, but Yahoo! will put ads on the site to support the free service. The size of your account is limited as well. A paid service will give you more space, no ads, and a variety of other services, but if you don't mind the ads, starting with a free account might be the first step.

  • The Host's Durability: Consider selecting a company that has been around a long time, and thus, you can be more assured that the company won't disappear tomorrow. With the Internet, you never know what might happen.

  • Free Email Service with Webhosting: Again, some companies provide free email along with your Website. Look for an email service that gives you plenty of email storage. This is great in case you plan on sending large attachments like pictures or even audio files. Sometimes, your teachers might ask you to make a recording of your voice to check your speaking and pronunciation skills. A large email account is great for this.

There are so many options, so look carefully and experiment.
