Who is Randall Davis?

Background:

Randall Davis I am originally from the Midwestern part of the United States. After attending college for a year, I served overseas as a missionary for my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After my missionary service, I returned to the States, and I attended and graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, with an undergraduate degree in Spanish education and a master's degree in TESL. During the first few years of my career in Utah, I worked in a variety of teaching and training positions.

Our family moved to Japan where I taught English, intercultural studies, and computer literacy at several colleges and universities for the next eight years. A change of jobs brought me back to Utah where I now work. Since the beginning of my professional career, I have had wonderful opportunities to travel to different parts of the world to both share my background in educational technology and to learn about our world neighbors and cultures. My areas of interest and specialty include CALL, video technology and language teaching, teacher training, and learner autonomy. In addition to this Web site, I have created several others including Daily ESL, EZSlang, Train Your Accent, and EnglishVoices.

Outside of the profession, I enjoy doing family history research, camping, trail running, backpacking, and hiking (my Website, Hiking in Utah), and spending time with family. You can do a listening activity on my site called A Hiking Family in which I introduce myself and my family.

On a personal note, I believe that strengthening our relationships with our family, friends, and neighbors through love and service are some of the important purposes of our existence. The unified faith of all people, no matter what their cultural or religious backgrounds might be, can have an positive impact on the world and help us understand, deal with, and even find comfort during difficult challenges and trials in our lives.

You can listen to an interview with Randall to get to know him on a more personal level dealing with his family and philosophy on life.
