The Role of Multimedia Content on the Web and How to Create It
Purpose
This Webpage contains preconference material for my Keynote address, The Role of Multimedia Content on the Web and How to Create It, to be presented at the virtual conference, WiAOC 2005: Webheads in Action Online Convergence "Bridges across Cyberspace (Saturday November 19th, 2005 at 8:00 a.m., from Utah, USA). I will be covering the benefits and challenges of developing such content, along with tips on authoring your own content . . . even for those on a shoe-string budget.
On this day, I will be using the Elluminate/Webheads room at Learning Times venue to give this presentation, and you will need to sign up free to enter the conference room. However, I encourage attendees to preview the materials below before the session to familiarize yourself with the topic. I also am posting them here for those who cannot attend or for visitors who try to attend but can't due to the unpredicability of the Internet or technology (Internet congestion, server downtime, flood, computer crashes, etc.).
- Audio Recording (Length - 5:53): I discuss how I first got started with the development of Web-based multimedia, and I outline the concepts I will cover in my presentation.

- Article: I wrote an earlier article on this topic called, How to Build a Multimedia Website for Language Study, that can provide you with some background on the topic.
- Online Forum: This forum has been set up at the WiAOC 2005
Website to encourage questions and comments about the topic on Multimedia before the conference. Feel free to post any questions you have about the topic that I can review and try to address in the keynote presentation. You will find this forum HERE.
- Multimedia Websites: A good way to get an idea on the possibilities of online multimedia is to view some examples. I'm not saying they are the best or most popular sites out there (some ESL related, others for the general population), but they do contribute to our profession:
