The site also offers historical records on CD and offers a free download of the Personal Ancestry File Program for compiling your family data. The site is owned and operated by the Corporation of the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Contains a large number of historical documents, including vital records, of Texas. This is part of a larger project of USGenWeb Project (http://www.usgenweb.net/), aimed at providing genealogical research in every county and every state of the United States.
For example, you can search Texas births (from 1926 thru 1949) using its vital records search engine (http://vitals.rootsweb.com/tx/birth/general/search.cgi).

A commercial website containing large databases to various historical documents. Although it is a paid service, you might be able to find some information here more easily than using other databases.

Social Security Death Index Interactive Search - http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/

A database of deceased individuals who had been issued social security cards. Good source for locating birth and death dates.
