What are the physical, emotional, and psychological benefits of running? How is running on the streets different from running on mountain trails? What kinds of gear including running shoes, clothing, and nutritional foods are recommended for running?
Hi, I’m Randall. And today, I’d like to talk about the joys of running on trails, and there are several differences (as compared to running on the streets).
First of all, you are dealing with a variety of different terrain. You might be running through sand, dirt, over rocks, through streams, and on snow, and that makes it (running on trails) quite challenging. The other thing is you’re not running in a straight line. You’re running back and forth in a lateral direction, and in doing so, you always have to keep an eye on where you’re feet are.
The other thing is you always have to be prepared to fall. As you’re running along through rocks, you might trip over a rock or perhaps jump over a rattlesnake. You never know what you might encounter, but trail running is enjoyable because you get to see a lot of different things.
[Note: Although not mentioned, trail runners can encounter just about any weather condition, including heavy rains and mud. Also, carrying a cell phone where service is available can provide you some protection if you are injured.]
